Find Your Artists

This series began in the summer of 2022. At home in Ireland and based in Dublin City. Each shoot was a collaboration on evoking a local artist’s craft and personality.

This series is incomplete and may always be as I aim to shoot more artists and develop a constellation of creatives as I move about the world. I am still understanding how our experiences as subject and shooter, artist and artist, influence direction and imagination in the moment of a shoot. Perhaps, that will reveal itself as the photographs serve as a time capsule of our careers.

The title of this series came from asking photographer, Justine Kurland what advice she would give to artists that can’t afford the MFA route in an artist-photographer career; “Find your artists, you learn all about your craft by engaging with them.”
